The Call for Volunteers!
Helping children starts with people! Loving our neighbors as ourselves is one of the most valued traditions. We encourage everyone to recognize that every individual and group can make a difference that can change the lives and futures of these kids, one heart at a time! Our generation must act, right here, and right now!
The Generation is OURS There may come a time, when generations slip by and watch as those in need suffer and grow in numbers, where nobody cares and the focus is self-centered… but it will NOT be ours! Billions of dollars each year is spent trying to reach our Generation! This is no accident. Our generation is in a key position to change the world as we know it. We are between the generations of our fathers and mothers and our future sons and daughters. We are relied upon by those before us to carry the torch for to those younger than us. We are looked up to from the up and coming generation that needs us. We are the key! The Time is NOW There may come a time, when we fade away and our love is questioned and the examples of grace are few… but it will NOT be now! Right now, the generation immediately under us is in desperate need of leadership. Kids yearn for guidance and role models in a time where steroids, alcohol and drugs infect the global stage with celebrities or fallen leadership. Where can they turn? Is that the legacy that will be left behind? Something has to change… RIGHT NOW! The Place is HERE And there may be a place, where the sins of men flourish into evil incarnate and our homes are infected with selfishness, greed and temptation… but it will NOT be here! We certainly have seen great works in the mission fields throughout the world. But let us not forget our immediate neighbors that are literally next door to us! While we support overseas missions whole heartedly, we must also concentrate on our own homes and communities. We must not forget the mission field of Los Angeles! Review the numbers above. Those figures are staggering! We need help right now, and RIGHT HERE! What can I do as a Volunteer? There are three levels of volunteers immediately needed: 1. Weekly Commitments - These volunteers will commit for at least a school year in a mentor role for our weekly Operation FUN. They will work closely on a regular basis with the foster youths in the DCFS program with us every week. 2. Event Volunteers - These volunteers will assist us with our events at all levels. Not just in working with the kids at the events, but also in preparation, promotions and management of the events in general. 3. Career Builders - These volunteers will help create and teach programs and workshops that will be aimed at specific skills for which the kids can build a career and future. YOUTH CLUB LEADER - Our youth clubs are weekly engagements where kids will be brought to a place where they can be safe and have fun! These nights will provide great atmosphere, with no pressure where the kids can meet and relate to adults who care about them and also other children as well. A place where they can hang out that is safe and exciting and educational! We will need to train and develop Shepherd Leaders that the kids can count on! SPECIAL EVENTS - Special events will include monthly outings where we can take the kids that are a part of the Operation FUN to specific places such as theme parks, sports engagements, or other specific activities for a one day or weekend excursion. These events will be directed by our volunteers and transportation provided as a group. These outings will be once a month and generally held on weekends. We will also need some help funding these events that can come from specific fundraisers or sponsorships. Click Here for Calendar of Events! CAREER BUILDERS - Career Builders is where we create the future for which the kids can hold on to! Here, we will create camps and weekly workshops that can teach and lead specific life skills. We will recruit teachers and celebrities that can lead kids in a hands-on working environment where they can feed off their own unique interests and create a foundation for which a life career can be developed! Imagine teaching kids creative writing, and at the end of the workshop the climax will be to write a novel together for publication! Imagine teaching kids the art of drama, where the final exam will be the live performance of a play or production! Image teaching kids business skills, where the final project leads them into the structuring of a new corporation or business venture! This is only the beginning… How do I get started?
